Musician
If you’re interested in becoming a bandleader, serving as a band member, or perhaps just filling in from time to time, start by reading the following documents: Overview of Music & Art at Crosscurrent Church, and Crosscurrent Bandleaders. Then fill out an audition form. Auditions will be held as new bands are formed or as existing bands have needs. We encourage potential members to consider the bandleader’s vision to see if they are a good fit. Potential members will be assessed on character, competency and compatibility. Based on the audition you will receive one of the following responses:
1. You’re a good fit for this band. Welcome aboard!
2. We don’t have a need right now, but we affirm your gifting and calling and would like to keep you in a pool of substitute/auxillary musicians (a very necessary role in the transient culture of our city).
3. In love & grace we do not affirm this gift to serve in this way. We would like to offer the following: a) recommendations on how to improve should you desire to serve in this ministry at some point; and/or b) resources & discussions as to what other gifts you may have that can be offered to serve Jesus’ church.

Slide Tech
This role involves implementing visual art into our gathered worship services. Current responsibilities include creating and/or implementing the background slides for the songs. Contact Ricky Castillo for Great Neck or Kelly Goldman for Kempsville.
Sound Tech
You can never have too many sound techs! Sound techs are considered full time members of their respective bands, and thus scheduled accordingly for Sunday gatherings. No experience required; we’ll train you! Contact Chris Roberts for Great Neck or Brad Boyce for Kempsville.
Graphic Designers & Artists
Perhaps you’ve looked at our website and/or worship blog and thought something to the effect of, “Interesting & functional. But it could be so much more!” If you’ve then thought of what it would be like to be the graphic curator of sorts for these sites, then we would love to hear from you! We are looking to establish a team of designers & artists to dream about the following: a) creating rotating images for the website as opposed to using stock photos; b) designing message series graphics; c) evaluating our overall branding and signage; and d) creating pieces for the worship blog to aid in leading Crosscurrent Church in the worship of Jesus Christ. Sanctuary & Stage Design
In the same way that our slide techs look to the bring lyrics to life through background images, we would like to see our sanctuary decor and stage design communicate liturgical themes throughout the year. If you’re interested in helping to develop this ministry, contact Wes Gow for more info.
